Band Camp Information – Important!

Dear HHS Band Students and Parents, 

We’re excited to welcome you back to Hixson High School in the Fall after a long time away! We are committed to making a high quality and safe music education available to all of our students. To that end, things may look different this year, but we will still be out there making music as always and improving every day, in the safest way possible.

Itinerary for Trojan Marching Invitational Oct 19th

Itinerary for Saturday, Oct 19 2019; Trojan Marching Invitational, Soddy Daisy TN

11:00 AM            Report to the Band Room, rehearsal, run-through

1:00 PM               Return to the band room, load the truck

1:30 PM               In seats, ready to board buses

1:40 PM               Leave HHS

2:00 PM               Arrive at SDHS, unload, change into uniform

3:15 PM               Warm-up

4:15 PM               Performance

8:25 PM               Awards                

9:00 PM               Return to buses, load up and leave SDHS

9:20 PM               Arrive at HHS, clean up and unload, dismiss

  • The band will be in uniform for this performance – don’t forget band shirt, black socks, and marching shoes
  • Eat before report time. No rehearsing on an empty stomach!
  • General Admission tickets for the contest are $10, children 6 & under free; special VIP parking will be available for an additional charge

Itinerary for Sept 27 & 28 – Homecoming Game and Bradley Central contest

Itinerary for Friday, Sept 27, 2019; Home FB game vs Boyd Buchanan

6:00 PM               Report to the band room, warm up, change into uniform

7:00 PM               Line up to march to the stadium

7:30 PM               Kickoff

8:30 PM               (estimated) Halftime – perform for Homecoming Court

10:00 PM             Performance of 2019 Show after the game

10:45 PM             Line up to march back to the Band Room

11:00 PM             Clean up, change, dismiss

  • The band will be in uniform for the game – don’t forget band shirt, black socks, and marching shoes
  • Eat before report time. The band will eat after halftime, courtesy of the HHS Band Boosters
  • End time for the game is an estimate and may vary, depending on timeouts, weather, etc.

Itinerary for Saturday, Sept 28, 2019; A Bradley Classic Marching Contest

11:00 AM            Report to the band room, move directly to the practice field for rehearsal

1:00 PM               Return to the band room, load up equipment

1:30 PM               Leave HHS

2:15 PM               Arrive at BCHS, unload, eat, change into uniform

3:30 PM               Warm up

4:35 PM               Perform

5:00 PM               Return to buses, change out of uniform, load equipment

5:30 PM               Early bus departs, all others return to stadium to watch other bands

8:20 PM               Awards ceremony

9:30 PM               Load buses to return

10:00 PM             Arrive at HHS, unload, dismiss

  • Tickets to the contest are $10 general admission; children under 6 free; parking is free
  • Eat before report time. The band will eat after we arrive at BCHS, courtesy of the HHS Band Boosters
  • The address for Bradley Central HS is 1000 S Lee Hwy, Cleveland TN 37311

Itinerary for Friday, Sept, 2019; FB game (home) vs Sequoyah

5:30 PM               Report to the band room, rehearse briefly, change into uniform

7:00 PM               Line up to march to the stadium

7:30 PM               Kickoff

10:00 PM             Line up, march back to the band room

10:15 PM             Clean up, change, dismiss

  • The band will be in uniform for the game – don’t forget band shirt, black socks, and marching shoes
  • Eat before report time. The band will eat after halftime, courtesy of the HHS Band Boosters
  • The game should be over around 10:00 PM, depending on timeouts, weather, etc.

Itinerary for Sept 6, 2019 – FB game at Anderson Co

3:30 PM               Students report, load truck, board buses

4:00 PM               Leave HHS

6:15 PM               Arrive at ACHS, unload and eat

                                Pizza for the band will be provided by the HHS Band Booster Club

7:30  PM              Kickoff

10:00 PM             End of game, load up and leave

12:30 AM            Arrive at Hixson HS, unload & clean up, dismiss  

                                This is an estimate – times may vary based on the length of the game

  • Students may bring money for the concession stand after we perform

Band Trip Information – Knoxville Drum Corps Show

This year, for the first time in a while, we are taking a trip to the Drums Across the Smokies drum corps show in Knoxville on Thursday, July 11th. Here’s a link to information on which groups are competing.

This trip is not mandatory, but will be a great time to hang out with your fellow band members and see some world class marching performances. The cost is $30 per person (covers a ticket to the show and bus transportation to and from Knoxville). Please fill out this form by this Friday, June 28th if you plan to attend.

Since we are out of school, money and permission forms need to be turned in by the time we leave on the 11th. Please only sign up if you do plan to go, as any unused tickets will cost the band money!
